Super Hero Slots Action in Cryptologic’s Batman
Perhaps no other hero is quite so iconic as Bruce Wayne’s alter ego: first appearing in the pages of True Detective magazine, Bob Kane’s creation spoke to something deep within us all, possibly because he possessed no real superhuman abilities other than an unyielding sense of justice, galvanised into action by an unjust society. Batman has appeared in almost every modern medium, which is not bad for a character whose original medium was darkness and fear.
The iconography of Cryptologic’s Batman is definitely based on the DC Comics rendition of the character, rather than more modern interpretations: thus the Joker, Commissioner Gordon, and the Batmobile all appear, but very much in their pre-Christopher Nolan and Tim Burton guises. The lower value symbols include grappling hooks, a batarang, and the searchlight, with the Batbike also appearing amongst the higher ranking symbols.
The Joker himself may be the villain of the piece, but his appearance is welcome, since he carries the maximum potential payout of 2000 coins. A menacing looking, and animated, figure of Batman takes the role of the Wild symbol, and the game symbol acts as a Scatter, triggering Bonus rounds.
Bets and Bonus Bets
Coin values range from a minimum of 0,1 up to a maximum of 20, and with a maximum of 50 paylines selected, that can mean a potential bet of 1000$ per spin. Selecting the Bonus Bet feature will cost a further ten coins, but this effectively adds a further ten lines, as well as adding further chances of encountering a Wild Batman symbol on reels 2, 3 and 4. Scatter prizes also receive a 50x multiplier.
Finding the trenchcoat clad Commissioner Gordon and a Bat symbol on reels 1 and 5 respectively will award you a re-spin feature: this holds the inner three reels while the others spin, and all winnings receive a double multiplier during this feature.
Descent Into Madness
This Bonus Feature is the real reason to add the Bonus Bet, as it is triggered when three or more Scatter symbols appear from left to right: this feature sees you in Arkham Asylum, attempting to hit villains with your batarangs, in a more arcade style setting than some other slots. Trap the Joker during this stage, and you can win up to 100x the original triggering bet: if at first you don’t succeed, there is a second chance at this, as well as a consolation prize, which cannot always be said for the Gothamites.
Gotham: It’s Worth a Visit
The Bonus Bet feature, arcade style animation and high potential payout of Batman are definitely its drawcards: the artwork is more likely to appeal to traditional fans of the character than those seeking a spin-off of the recent movie, but it does provide atmospheric game play and plenty of thrills: swoop on down and take a look for yourself.
This Batman themed slot is yet another Marvel themed game in Cryptologics impressive arsenal and will certainly suit fans of the genre.
