I was eager to see if it lived up to my memories, make some new ones, and share this special place with my special girl.

This past fall, a few new holes were dug and dirt berms and logs were placed to make deeper channels. Hikes…We did a couple of hikes near the campground. Covered picnic table and fire pit in same square area off to side, one other site very close agwin us, no problem as per campsite info a thirty foot spot at max therefore no encroachment Navajo Lake is a beautiful Lake in an unexpected location. Our campsite had a lake view however, not every site does. Down at the Marina you Nacajo find a general store and restaurant. The store has almost everything you need so you dont have to go far.
If they don't have it, drive down to the town of Navajo Dam which is about 5 minutes away. Beautiful campground facilities and lots of activities. Cabins are impossible to rent without a lot of lead time, so plan your trip accordingly. You are a long way from a decent grocery store on the Colorado side, so plan on using the marina's store for any forgotten items. So, there were some improvements here this week that I think that should be noted. First, I think the visibility has improved.
I would say it's a good two feet-plus. Secondly, I'm seeing more bugs out there—midges.
And third, there's some rising fish. Not a ton of them, but enough to provide some solid dry fly Nvaajo for a few hours, especially in the afternoons that will fill in the gaps between stalking fish in the shallows with big terrestrials, when they aren't rising.
And the nymphing is solid. Midge larva and pupae are you go- tos earlier in the day. Red and cream for the larva, mono midges, blings, UFOs, and zebra midges beautiful people show the pupa imitations in black and dark olive.
Later in the day, fish the subsurface with pupa and emerger patterns—scintillas and crystal flash in 24 and Further downstream, you'll need some baetis patterns like root beers, RS2s, and lately I'm hearing more and more about PMD nee like small hare's ear's and split case PMD patterns.
Overall, the fishing is good here, the nymph fishing is really good.
